Jena has been with the Rennie Center since November 2021, assisting with projects such as the development of a Research Consortium for ESSER funds and a Massachusetts Early Childhood Systems Map and Data Overview. She grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where she developed an interest in education through teaching and tutoring children in her community. Prior to completing her B.A. in Economics and Philosophy from Boston University, Jena was a literacy tutor for the Boston University Initiative for Literacy Development at Baldwin Early Learning Center, and she currently works part time as an early childhood educator in South Boston. Jena plans to use her quantitative background in economics and the skills gained from her time at Rennie to pursue a career in education policy research and analysis, which she hopes will contribute to the development of more equitable, well-evidenced policies in education.
