After two decades in the Massachusetts education policy field, the Rennie Center is well positioned to serve as an independent resource for policy makers, help set a public agenda for the future of education, and advance critical conversations in education reform. While we don’t advocate for specific legislation, we do provide state and local leaders with the evidence they need to make informed decisions.
Informing policy makers
Our team meets regularly with leaders from across fields—from legislators and business leaders to district and school administrators—to share findings from our independent research and on-the-ground work with schools. We testify at legislative hearings on topics where we have expertise. And our Data Dashboard provides all education stakeholders—from classrooms to the State House— access to updated, relevant, and accurate state and district data on a wide-ranging set of key indicators of educational success.
Helping set a public agenda
Our education system is at a crossroads. We know the current system is not working for too many students and it’s time to reexamine our approach to teaching and learning. At the Rennie Center, we are focused on creating a public agenda that rethinks when, where, and how learning happens in a way that meets the needs of students in 2025 and beyond. Our Condition of Education project is focused on finding realistic solutions and identifying policies at the state and local level to help scale promising practices.
Advancing critical conversations
Leveraging our trusted reputation and extensive relationships in the field, we serve as a connective tissue between people and organizations across the education, policy, and business worlds. We create open spaces for educators and policymakers to consider evidence, discuss cutting-edge issues, and develop new approaches to advance student learning and achievement. We also participate in a wide range of conversations and coalitions on key issues impacting our education system.
