Summer Intern

Jonquil Rumberger is joining the Rennie Center as a summer 2026 intern. Jonquil is currently a Ph.D. student in Applied Developmental & Educational Psychology at Boston College. Her academic and professional experiences have focused on bridging evidence and practice to design effective school programs and promote educational equity. After earning her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz, majoring in literature and psychology, Jonquil spent two years as the research coordinator for an NIH-funded school-based intervention aiming to reduce prejudice and promote inclusion in elementary school classrooms. This experience helped inspire Jonquil's passion for developing and evaluating school-based programs through school partnerships. As a graduate research assistant at Boston College, she supports the development and implementation of an extra-curricular program focused on empowering minoritized students and promoting academic engagement. As part of her doctoral training, Jonquil previously interned with the Safe Schools Program, a joint project of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth. There, she analyzed statewide survey data in order to support the Commission's annual recommendations for policy and practice. Jonquil's doctoral research aims to identify the barriers and facilitators to thorough implementation of inclusive school policies. She is excited to join the Rennie team this summer and to learn more about the nonprofit sector’s unique role in translating research into practice.
