Old myths die hard; new truths have a hard time getting into the public discussion no matter how well founded.

Nowhere is this truer than in education, where many "findings" are not well founded and the public is bombarded by political claims…

So any new outfit that promises "a hard look at what really works for kids and schools" like the Center for Education Research & Policy at MassINC deserves a welcome.

This new think tank deserves applause because it keeps Paul Reville…

involved in real analysis. His review commission has to wind up its business because the state is scrounging for nickels these days. With the redoubtable Reville at the helm, the new center should be able to leave harbor under full sail.
